The Art of Finding Yourself, Again!
Imagine waking up one day and feeling as though your life is over. Feeling as though nothing you do is right. Feeling as though there is no hope. At this very moment, you lose your entire self, your entire worth and you begin to realize, you can’t even open up to those around you. Your entire world feels like it’s crumbling down.
Trust me when I say, you are not alone. I recently went through the same situation but I knew I had to pull myself out of it. I had to gain the strength to know there is so much more to life. I’ve been there. I’ve cried non-stop for days, shut myself off from the world, looked in the mirror and didn’t feel good enough. When I think back to that time, I can’t believe I allowed myself to become that person. I’m strong, independent, beautiful, loving, caring but something was missing. What was missing? Me truly loving myself. Loving myself enough to know, it’s okay to be alone. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to fall in love. It’s okay to fall out of love.
What steps did I take to pull myself out of such a dark place? Re-evaluation: What caused me to get to this point in the first place?
- Mediation/Fasting: For the first time in my life, I did a 21-day fast. I won’t lie, it was hard in the beginning but as each day passed, it got easier.
- During my meditation/fasting, I realized I had to let some people go. It was hard but if we are not pulling each other up, supporting each other, there during the highs and lows then what role are we really playing in each other’s lives?
- Each day, I wrote one thing I loved about myself. How could this woman who was once so confident, no longer see what she offers to not just the world but herself?
- I had reminded myself of everything that brings joy into my life.
- PRAYER! I downloaded the Holy Bible App and it's helped guide me over the past few months.
At times, life can be so discouraging but never, ever give up. Putting in the work when it comes to all the happenings of life alongside prayer, you will feel so at ease with your day to day life. You have to make a conscious effort to be happy, genuinely happy. Whether it’s taking yourself out to eat a couple of times a week, having a good girl chat with one of your true girlfriends. Whatever it is you need to do, do it. A vacation? Yes girl, take that vacation. You deserve it!
You matter. Your happiness matters. Being the GREATEST version of you matters.
